Although Thanksgiving is mostly about the turkey, I find myself gravitating more towards the sides than the the actual bird itself.

These are my top five favorites out of a list of many:

  1. Cheesy Mashed Potatoes:  This gooey twist on a Thanksgiving classic tops the list. It includes my two favorites carbs and dairy. It’s just like it sounds: mashed potatoes with cheese on the inside. Some people even go as far as adding in bacon.
  2. Mac n’ Cheese: Once again another cheesy favorite. Not just any old Kraft out of a box with powdered cheese mixed in. This is made with love, then baked off in the oven.
  3. Collard Greens: Leafy greens such as Kale and spinach cooked down with smoked meat. It could simmer for hours to perfection.
  4. Corn Bread: This traditional side has been on Thanksgiving tables for years. This classic is one of my favorites because it’s quick and fast, and it always tastes good.
  5.  Pumpkin Pie: This tops all of my favorites on the Thanksgiving list. It’s sweet but a bit savory, and it tastes the best with a nice, buttery crust.
