The SAT is an important test that many students take during high school to help with college admissions. It is better to start early, so sophomore year is a good time to start preparing so the test feels easier later on.
Students can prepare by practicing reading comprehension, improving math skills, and taking practice tests to understand the format of the exam. Managing your time during practice tests can also help improve scores. Additionally, starting preparation in Sophomore year gives students more time to build confidence and strengthen their skills before taking the SAT in their Junior or Senior year.
I would definitely recommend studying and preparing for the SAT, rather than just going into it blindly. Use the resources that are available to you, such as Khan Academy, practice tests on BlueBook, MathNation, and even going to the library and getting a physical SAT book. For the Reading and Writing section, make sure to study grammar, punctuation, foundations, etc. For the Math section, you need to study formulas, systems of equations, Trigonometry, solving for f(x), etc.
Studying for the SAT isn’t as hard as it is believed to be. Just stay focused practice about 2-3 times a week for a few months before your testing date in order to retain the information and make sure you’re ready for the test. Don’t forget that you can even ask your teachers for study guides and tips that helped them and previous students they know get high scores!
