I got the chance to interview two seniors for Senior Night on Thursday, January 15, 2026, as the Santaluces girls soccer team took the field for their final home game of the season. The night was full of emotion, recognition, and celebration, honoring the seniors for their dedication, hard work, and the memories they’ve created throughout their time on the team. It was a chance to reflect on their journeys, both on and off the field, and hear how they felt about closing this chapter of their high school soccer careers.

Ana Sustaita, a senior, described the night as emotional and special. Playing her last game for Santaluces made everything feel real, and she loved being recognized for all her hard work. Ana helped lead the team to a 2–1 victory, scoring two goals and finishing her final home game on a high note. She said the program taught her resilience, teamwork, and the importance of a supportive team that feels like family.

Josalynn Gutierrez, also a senior, has been playing soccer for four years, including her first year at Santaluces. She said the team gave their best throughout the match and secured the win in the final moments. Josalynn shared that being part of Santaluces girls soccer taught her to communicate better with both teammates and coaches, and she plans to stay connected to the sport by coaching youth players after high school.
For both Ana and Josalynn, Senior Night was more than a game. It was a celebration of growth, dedication, and the memories they’ve made with Santaluces girls soccer. Ana leaves a legacy of resilience and teamwork, while Josalynn looks forward to giving back to the sport. Together, they represent the heart of the team and the lasting impact of this special night.
