In my personal opinion cellphones should be banned during school hours.

 I believe so because cellphones are one of the biggest distractions that schools encounter. Notice how everyone these days are always on their cellphones? This includes teachers and students.. Cellphones are defeating the whole point of schools which is to learn. I’ve noticed while walking the halls most people’s eyes are glued to their phone which causes them to bump into people ALL the time. While many argue that cellphones should be allowed in school for safety precautions, in many cases cellphones are not being used for safety reasons. Cellphones are creating a dangerous environment for students, because in this generation phones are being used to create drama, cyberbullying and cheating. 

Cellphones make it more accessible to cheat during schools especially with AI apps that literally give students answers to their work. When a student cheats it harms them because they won’t have the required skills that they’re going to need to take tests or when they go to college. To that, most students would say “ill just cheat on the text too” but cheating on tests may cause schools to put you in higher placement classes which also is bad because you might not understand the curriculum. Not to mention the consequences of cheating on tests which may include , In school suspension, suspension, after school detention , invalid test… With all these possible consequences I think if you actually try on your test. That way a teacher could possibly help you in your no so strong areas 

  Onto my next point , phones are the main cause of drama. Most students that are in schools are teenagers , teenagers are bound to end up in drama someway but with  cellphones being around it makes it 100 times worse because not only does the people at your current school will know but students at different schools will know, with  social media apps like TikTok , instagram and twitter new spread much faster. Which causes a small situation to be a big situation .. Basically phones extravagate drama. Well maybe not the phones itself but the people  who are behind the cellphones. 

Bullying has always been a major problem in schools but with cellphones an individual can bully someone at the comfort of their own screen , which is called cyberbullying. Cyberbullying happens very often especially in high schools, where individuals will go on social media apps and proceed to spread rumors about someone or even posting pictures of themselves. The person who’s being bullied may end up being depressed, angry or sometimes suicidal. 

   Overall , Cellphones being banned would most likely help most schools because it would help students  academically because without phones most students wouldn’t have a way to cheat and would probably do their work by themself which would increase their knowledge . Another way it would help would be how it would  decrease the amount of drama/ bullying that schools may have. Also without phones students won’t have their eyes glued to their screen , they would actually have to interact with their peers.
