While some admire actors and actresses for their looks, bank accounts, and red carpet glamour, others admire them for their job. Among those people is Siena Werber, a current student at Santaluces, whose taking her talents to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts senior program next year.
“I want to become an actress because I love the idea of being a new character and creating somebody else,” said Werber. “You get to touch people through the story that you make and the characters that you are.”
Attending UNSCA was a long time dream for Werber, because the school is considered one of the top ten acting schools in the country and was home to the summer program she attended.
“[The summer program] was life changing,” said Werber. “I wanted to go to the senior program because it would be an extension of the summer program, and would prepare me for college auditioning.”
One of Werber’s influences include her sister, who attended Dreyfoos School of the Arts and currently attends Florida State University as an acting major. Watching her sister on stage catapulted Werber into the realization that acting was what she wanted to do.
“I remember seeing her as a young girl on stage and I was just in awe of her because she was so brave,” said Werber. “It was just amazing to me.”
Other than acting Werber enjoys doing yoga, which she will take a class on at UNSCA, baking, and painting. Earlier this year she painted a Picasso piece for a teacher at the school and just recently painted Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss.” Werber also takes her talents into modeling, and was a prominent part of this year’s annual art show, appearing in photos for several of the members of AP Photo.
After graduating, Werber has hopes of attending an acting university, especially UNSCA.
“It would be the ultimate dream,” said Werber. “All of these acting schools are extremely selective and extremely hard to get into. Luckily, I’m going to a program that helps you prepare for that.”
Other than her sister, Werber’s influences include Cate Blancett, Jessica Chastian, Emma Thompson, and Kate Winslet, all actresses whose names may soon appear beside Werber’s for Oscar nominations.
