On Friday night, the Varsity Basketball Chiefs pulled off an upset against highly ranked John I Leonard. However, it wasn’t looking that way throughout the whole game. In the first half, the Chiefs were getting dominated, letting the lead get as high as 19 points at one point and getting outscored 35-24.

Second half, though, was different. With everyone else struggling from the field, Big men Akiem Daschner and Sean Dinkins and Guard Mark Sajous lead the team in scoring to keep them in the game, putting up 47 of the Chief’s 75 total points. With 1.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Jr. Austin Martinez shot the game-tying 3-point shot to send the game into overtime. Then in overtime, Chiefs dominate, outscoring the Lancers 16-8.
