Every year, Santaluces has a crowning moment in its art departments – namely the 4000 building which has the annual art show for all of its creative classes. For Musical Theater, however, there’s always the large play, and this year, the Tomahawk Theater Company’s recreating The Little Mermaid Jr.

Starring members of Mr. Fetterly’s Musical Theater class, students are practicing hard to perform January 16th through the 18th. The entire production is being run by the students, including actors, stage tech, makeup and building the set. The musical is performed at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 p.m. on all three days. Tickets for the play are $5 for students and $10 for adults.

“Every show turns out to be the best thing ever,” said junior Sydney Toolis, who is one of the two students playing Ursula. “We have the set, the actors and the makeup, and everything is just fabulous, especially Ursula.”

One issue that students have questioned is that The Little Mermaid was not open to the entire school for auditions. However, Fetterly plans to have another performance later on in the year where auditions will take place.

“The play will be announced February first,” said Fetterly. “It may or may not be a musical, and it will include anyone who wants to audition.”
