Palm Beach State College hosted the Jazz Festival this year where the Santaluces Jazz Band performed amongst professionals.
With a relatively small audience of approximately 75 people, the group performed three pieces: John Lewis’ “Afternoon in Paris,” written in the 1950’s, “One Note Samba,” and Gordon Goodwin’s “Work in Progress.”
“The experience was really great; I enjoyed having the opportunity to play with so many college jazz bands,” said senior Jennifer De La Rosa, a flute player in the Santaluces Jazz Band. “It inspired me to be a more active member of the band in class, and take more soloing opportunities.”
The festival also featured performances by Palm Beach Atlantic Jazz Band, and Palm Beach State’s Jazz Band along with others.
