October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the Santaluces Chiefs have come up with many different ways to show their support.
Today is “wear pink day,” and SGA will sell bracelets and dog tags for $1 each, with the money collected going to the Susan Koman cancer fund.
“It’s really great how much support is being shown for this cause,” said Haley Mooney, a senior. “It really means a lot to me specifically.”
Also today there will be activities during lunch. One of the activities will be a contest for the most pink at lunch, and the winners- one boy and one girl- will receive a prize that has remained unknown.
“‘I’m excited for the unity,” said Mrs. Monahan, SGA advisor. “For the school to come together for one cause.”
The athletic department is also showing support. The girls volleyball team is wearing pink bows to their games, the cheerleaders are wearing pink bows and socks, and the boys football team is wearing pink accessories.
“I know Monhan has it covered, breast cancer awareness month is super festive” said Alina Polanco, a senior and captain of the varsity cheerleading team. “I love to see the school getting together.”
