Everyone attends the school events, but does anyone wonder who plans and executes them? It is the Student Government Association, this week we interviewed and went behind the scenes with our Santaluces SGA. They spent all week planning and prepping our pep rally for Friday 9/6/24.
J’Nai Davis is a senior with SGA and is on the Santaluces Varsity Cheer team. “I joined SGA my junior year, once I found out what they do”, she was very interested. Her job in SGA is PR (public relations). They make the posters and let everyone know what is going on and what days they are taking place. She also has recently started to make online flyers for Instagram, she has already made a couple for the Santaluces Football team. “One of my favorite memories of SGA was our end of the year trip to Rapids. It was so fun and all of us were able to come together and enjoy our day away from school.” Another favorite memory for J’Nai was the snowball, it is a holiday celebration for all the ESE students in the district. They all come over to our gym and SGA prepares games and fun activities for the students. J’Nai thinks other people should join SGA so that they can help everyone have an awesome and fun school year!
Giselle Soto is apart of SGA at Santaluces High School, Medical Science Academy and Santaluces Cheer team. She joined SGA because of the great environment and all the great things that SGA has done in the past. We also asked what the process of planning and picking a theme for the pep rally is. She said, the process of planning pep rallies is that everyone will be split into groups and have a certain job to do. We decide the theme for the pep rallies based on if we all collectively agree as one with everyone’s input on a theme. Her favorite memory of being in SGA was during the summer when they all decorated the 8000 building. She made many great relationships during that time. She believes others should join because it’s a great way to make strong connections with everyone and all the opportunities others can have by being in SGA.
Kayla Porter is a junior who is a part of SGA and Varsity Cheer at Santaluces. She joined SGA because she saw that they were very involved and appreciated how much they do for our school. “The benefits of joining SGA are you get community service hours, you are very involved with school events, and it is like a second family.” Others should join SGA to learn more about the school and so that they can meet and form bonds with new people.
SGA works hard continuously throughout the year to make sure all school events are the best. Their dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, they put in days of work to make sure all events are enjoyable for everyone! Anyone can join, it’s more than just a club, they’re a family. Want to join?
