Jonathan Villa is a Senior here at Santaluces High School, he has participated on our school’s soccer team for 3 years. Jonathan has agreed to share how he handles his tight schedule.
How do you balance the demands of soccer, your job, and school commitments?
“For soccer and work I would try to evenly balance it’s out the best I can. I would call off for game days and work all the other days and for practice I will go when I’m not working.”
How has working taught you skills that you can also apply to soccer and vice versa?
“Working has been able to teach me to multitask and be effective. Soccer has helped me become a fast thinker and able to make good decisions.”
What motivates you to stay committed to both soccer and your job despite the challenges?
“The main thing that makes me wanna keep my job is the money. For soccer, on the other hand, it’s something that I enjoy doing, and something I always liked.”
What advice would you give to a younger teammate who is considering getting a job?
“For a formal teammate I would tell them to take their time and to live life. Not everything in life is rushed you should always have time for things that make you happy.”
How do you see your experiences helping you in college or your future career?
“I believe that these experiences that I am learning would help me understand more about life, how to do everything on time, and be able to make my life easier.”
