Bound for College is one of the many clubs at Santaluces High School. This club currently comprises about 20 students, a mix of Juniors and Seniors. This organization provides many opportunities for students willing to take a leap, a chance, and, most of all, ready to put in the effort.

As everyone knows, the whole scholarship and college application process revolves around student personality and their stats. A considerable being their ACT and SAT scores. These dreaded exams are part of the key to making it into elite schools and being granted significant scholarships. It is simply wrong for schools to blindly throw their students in to take said tests, as they may or may not have a considerable impact on their academics. Thankfully, Santaluces High School has clubs such as Bound for College.

This club has meetings on Mondays and Tuesdays made explicitly for student preparation for the college application process and ACT/SAT tutoring. This club has come to Santaluces with the help of Ms. Moe. It is being graciously assisted by teacher tutors like Mrs. Schroader, our very own head of the English department, Ms. Cantwell, who teaches our science portion, and Mr. Williams, who is in charge of our math section. With a meeting just yesterday and another today, the students of this club are learning more by the week, constantly getting exposed to more practice for these prestigious exams.

If you wish to join the club, it is always open to new members, and you can receive more information about it from Ms. Moe in our Media Center. Hopefully, soon enough, there will be a new first- and second-year student edition to the club geared toward their academic future and tests. This club needs to be discussed more and can significantly benefit any high school student’s career.

As a student who usually performs excellently on exams, taking the PSAT for the first time my sophomore year completely knocked the wind out of me. I felt unprepared, under immense pressure, and insecure due to my score and how I strategized on the exam. This club makes me feel more prepared for future exams, showing me test-taking strategies and life skills.
