I have been able to read the book “To All the Bright Places” from Jennifer Niven, which is known as a young adult literature book based on the author’s personal life. It is about two high schoolers, also known as Violet and Finch, that met on a ledge at their school. The high schoolers are dealing with many different issues, like how Violet is in a bad mental state because she is still dealing with her sister’s death from a car crash she was also a victim of. While Finch is dealing with his mental issues from his undiagnosed bipolar, which causes him to feel the need to stay awake. Finch grew up with a messed-up childhood with an abusive father, while it seems as if Violet has the absolute perfect parents. When they finally did end up connecting, they did help mend each other’s wounds and give them more of a purpose.
I do love how the chapters are split up between Flinch’s point of view and Violet’s point of view, so you get a deep dive on how their thoughts are when different situations are happening to them. For me, it is sometimes somewhat harder to understand many different books from how they put out certain details and dialogue. The way this story does this and displays the dialogue makes it easier to understand and better to appreciate. This story deals with the reality of certain teenagers and how love can affect their life and mental state, but that doesn’t mean it is permanent. It is a story with very many ups and downs and downs with a very sad and deep ending.
The author does a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and keeping you engaged. It did really help connect to what people may feel on a day-to-day basis. This sneak peek can help you get a little sneak peek of the story, and hopefully you show some interest and want to dig deeper. I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I have, and if you feel more interested, check out the movie on Netflix.
