Valentines Day on a Budget

Viri Reyes, Staff Writer

Valentines Day is right around the corner. You’ll either spend it entirely sad because you have no one to celebrate with, or you’ll spend it having fun with your boyfriend or girlfriend. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but going out means spending a lot of money you probably shouldn’t be spending. If you’re anything like me, you go out way too much, careless of how much it costs. So, I’ve decided to help out all of those who want to celebrate Valentines Day, but are concerned with spending money. Here’s a list of things to do when you have a Valentines Day Budget.

Have a movie night: Who says you need to go to the movie theaters? The greatest wonders of the world are Netflix and RedBox after all. Buy a box of popcorn from the store, grab a bunch of blankets and pillows and sit in front of your TV. Binge a whole TV series or watch movies.

Buy simple gifts: Simplicity is beautiful. You don’t have to buy the most expensive thing you see on the store shelves. You can buy a box of chocolates, flowers, a teddy bear or even make a gift basket of your significant other’s favorite candies.

Make or order dinner: I know going out to eat is amazing because someone’s cooking for you, but it couldn’t hurt to cook dinner yourself. Surprise your significant other with a homemade dish. If you don’t want to cook, no problem. You can order Chinese food, or order a box of pizza. Even better yet, they will deliver to you!

Write a love letter: Instead of texting a whole paragraph to your significant other, make it sentimental and write it on a piece of paper. Taking the time to sit down and write everything you feel shows the other person how much you really care.

Spend the day outside If you don’t want to stay in the house, go spend the night walking and adventuring somewhere. Go to City Place, or hang out on Clematis. Take a trip to the beach, and walk on the boardwalk. Sometimes you don’t have to buy things to make someone happy. Company is better than anything materialistic.
