At my sister’s request, I visited what is considered a “hidden gem in Wellington,” according to Yelp reviews. The Cha Cha is a very small Japanese Cafe that serves classics such as, gyoza (dumplings stuffed with pork and cabbage), spring rolls, sushi, teriyaki, egg rolls, and of course, their specialty, ramen noodles. They also serve items such as ice cream and teas.
Although this Cafe is very small, it was pretty busy when I visited it. However, when I entered the place, no employee was there to greet me. I seated myself at a table for two and waited to be brought my menu. A few minutes later, the only employee there, brought me a menu but did not greet me or initiate conversation. This poor service was apparent throughout my visit.
As I sat, I looked around and there were several signs posted around the store. A few of them mentioned that the Cafe does not have takeout options or even serves more than a 4 person party. The place only has four tables that seat two and one table that seats four. Since it is a small business, they charge a fee if you pay with a card.
While I was there, I decided to order a bowl of classic ramen noodles and a plate of gyoza. Regardless of their bad service, the food definitely made up for it. The gyoza was fully stuffed with pork and served with a salty oily-sauce that complimented each other. The order served five gyoza for $6. The classic ramen noodle cost $12 but was served in a big bowl. It was decorated with a slice of pork, a boiled egg, a piece of dry seaweed, and a slice of Naruto fish cake.
Putting aside the bad service, the food was tasty and affordable. I will definitely be returning when my noodle craving is acting up.
