Recently on February 24, 2022, in Florida, a controversial bill was placed.

Don’t Say Gay.

This bill is stopping teachers from talking about sexuality and gender between kindergarten to third grade. They deemed it as “not age-appropriate” or “developmentally appropriate.”

Many people view it as a way to show how hateful these people are who allowed this bill to go pass; some believe that it was just a way to silence people of LGBTQ youth. People of LGBTQ are going through enough with having to accept themselves and having to be in a school where they could get bullied for who they are. Statistics show how they’re at higher risk for bullying and suicide.

Biden, the US president, tweeted “I have your back, and my Administration will continue to fight for the protection and safety you deserve.

Because of this bill, people are doing walkouts at their own campuses and outside. Even Tampa Bay held walkouts to show their opposition; they were screaming “we say gay” as a response to the bill.

This bill isn’t good for our youth who are experiencing themselves. Either way.

We say gay.
