The SHS Dynasty Dolls are our school’s majorette team, showing off their skills at football games, pep rallies, and other campus events. We had the chance to talk with three of the team’s leaders to learn what inspires them, how they prepare, and what students can look forward to this year.
Nalani Moffett, a senior and the team captain, shared why she decided to take the lead. “What inspired me to take over the dance team was my passion for leadership and my love for dance. I’ve always believed dancing is more than just an ability or a talent—it’s a way to express yourself and create sisterhood. I saw the potential for our team to grow, and I took it.” When asked what students should expect from the Dynasty Dolls this year, Nalani said, “Students should expect bigger and better things. We’re working hard to collaborate and promote creativity throughout our team. So, expect us to keep showing up, hyping the crowd, and making every performance as memorable as possible.” The team also recently changed its name to better reflect their values. “We changed our name to Dynasty Dolls because we wanted something that truly represented us,” Nalani explained. “The word ‘dynasty’ means a line of rulers, and that’s what we promote in our team—leadership. Changing our name shows everyone that we weren’t afraid to evolve and move out of our comfort zone, while still keeping the best parts of what we had before.”

Co-captain Arlena Milord, also a senior, talked about why she joined the team and what practices are like. “I first discovered my passion for majorette, and as soon as I learned that our school had a team, I immediately joined,” she said. “Being part of the majorette team has taught me the importance of communication, determination, discipline, and, most importantly, sisterhood. Each practice strengthens our bond, creating a sister-like connection among teammates and building a safe, supportive environment.”
Senior Allayjah Taylor shared what she loves most about being on the team. “My favorite part of majorette is performing. I love the excitement and the hype leading up to it, and seeing how much students love it is the best feeling,” she said. She also highlighted the friendships built through the team: “I look forward to the friendship I gain from being in majorette; it truly is all about girlhood and bonding through dance.” When preparing for games, Allayjah focuses on staying calm and confident. “My preparation routine before is to meditate and pray the nerves away, and I try not to stress too much,” she said. She also described tryouts as challenging but rewarding: “The tryout process is tough. We typically have 2–3 days to learn a routine and memorize it, but I pick up on dances fast, so it’s really just the nerves that get to you.”
The SHS Dynasty Dolls are a team built on leadership, dedication, and sisterhood. They bring energy, creativity, and excitement to every performance. Make sure to catch them at the next football game, pep rally, or school event—you won’t want to miss it!
