Legos, small colorful plastic pieces that can be joined together and create either the most detailed or simplest creations. Legos have amassed an enormous amount of popularity since its original creation in 1932, but due to the notorious app, TikTok there has been another jumpstart to the quickly accumulating amount of people addicted to it (including me).
A couple of months ago, as a birthday present, a friend bought me a small Lego set due to my interest in them after seeing the cutest Lego sets on my “for you page” on TikTok. It wouldn’t have been my first interaction with them. During my childhood, my brother had humongous bags of these tiny blocks along with small blocky characters that paired with them. Unlike now, I had hated them, stepping on the pieces my brother would lazily leave behind was extremely painful. But, my little 20-dollar parrot Lego set revived my love for them exponentially.
With this Lego set, not only could you build a blue parrot but also two other different varying styles that came in the form of a blue fish and frog. I quickly understood the obsession with these after I had completely put together the entire 253-piece build. The entire process was extremely therapeutic, but naturally at times I would get slightly frustrated as the pieces were very intricate and complicated. However, the manual that was given does an amazing job of guiding you through everything.
The Lego company has done an outstanding job at adapting to recent trends and staying relevant. This company has been featured in hundreds of TV collaborations, even having entire shows centered around them including the collaboration with Warner Bros Pictures to make the popular show Lego Ninjago along with the popular movies like The Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie, and more. They’ve even built a very successful theme park named Lego Land that thousands of families go to for vacation.
I think it’s wonderful that Lego has made it so all ages can enjoy it. Legos in any form including cinematics use your creativity and physically build sets with blocks you can buy. These sets can range from brick-head Disney characters that are around 150 pieces, to beautiful landscapes you can build up that are up to 1,000+ pieces, or flowers you can make that’ll never die to give to your loved ones. All in all, the excruciating pain you may experience from stepping on a Lego block is definitely worth it!
