The Chiefs baseball team came into a Friday night district battle against the Boca Raton Bobcats. The Chiefs were 6-9 on the season, while the Bobcats were 7-6 on the season but a measly 1-6 on the road. The Chiefs shut out the Bobcats 2-0, to improve to 7-9 on the season.
The first meeting between the Chiefs and Bobcats was a thriller. The Bobcats won 1-0 off a seventh inning, but the Chiefs were prepared and ready for the rematch.
“We were preparing for the rematch against Boca for weeks now after our close loss the first game,” MJ Restivo said. “We came out looking for revenge, and in the end we came out on top.”
The Chiefs had senior Hakeem William on the mound hollow just 3 hits in 5 innings. Senior Malik Lissone came on to relief Williams and only surrendered 2 hits while striking out 4 batters in 2 innings.
The Chiefs lineup was led by junior A.J. Orrico who was 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. Junior Angel Diaz had a double and drove in two runs.
The Chiefs will face off against the Atlantic Eagles on the road, tonight at 6:30.
