Recently we were given the opportunity to interview one of the sweetest AICE literature teachers, Mrs. Brown to learn a little more about her! We asked her a total of nine questions and these were her responses.
How long have you been a teacher and how long have you been teaching at Santaluces?
“I’ve been teaching at Santaluces for four years and teaching in general for over 10 years.”
What was your favorite subject growing up and is it different from what you’re teaching now?
“My favorite subject growing up was history and yes it’s different from what I’m teaching now.”
Do you have a favorite show?
“I don’t think anybody would know my favorite show would be community or thirty rock but they ended over ten years ago. They both are thirty minute comedies.”
How does it feel like becoming a mom?
“Scary but exciting, I’m looking forward to it.”
What high school and college did u attend?
“I actually went to Santaluces my freshman year then I went to Park Vista for the rest of high school. I then went to UCF for college.”
What is your best teaching moment that makes you feel proud?
“That’s hard to answer but it is always exciting when students come back the next year to tell me they passed their aice exam I’m always proud of them.”
If you weren’t working as a teacher what would you be?
“Probably something like a community organization because I used to work for a union then I worked for a non-profit so something in the realm of helping people.”
What inspired you to become a teacher?
“I really wanted to travel so I started teaching English abroad, it was one way to make money while living in a different country and then I realized I enjoy teaching.”
What tips could you give other teachers when dealing with students misbehaving?
“Not taking it personally because lots of the times when the student is in a bad mood it’s not your fault they are just in a bad mood so if they are short with you don’t take it personally.”
