Inside Varsity Football: Week 5

Matthew Leto, Sports Editor

The Chiefs played John I. Leonard this past week with a 37-19 loss. The Varsity football team will play at home this Friday night against Boca Raton. Last season, the Chiefs were blown out by Boca Raton 41-0.

Boca Raton is 3-0 this season, after victories against Palm Beach Gardens, West Boca Raton, and Spanish River, the Chiefs face a tough opponent this upcoming week. Boca has scored 89 points in only 3 games and have solidified themselves as one of the toughest opponents in the county. Sophomore quarterback Arthur Gray Jr. will likely start under center, and may have a fantastic night connecting to offensive machines Bradley Toussaint and Kendyl Williams. Also, Senior Marquise Jackson should have a decent night on the ground.

Defensively, the Chiefs should come ready to compete against Boca Raton’s high powered offense.Additionally, Seniors Raymone Bailey and Alex Padilla should contribute heavily and keep Boca’s offense on its heels Friday night.

Senior Christopher Jean weighed in on this week’s exciting matchup.

“This week we are prepared for Boca Raton,” Jean said. “If we play how we have been practicing this past week, we can really compete against them.”
