“I began drawing when I took a class in middle school for credit. Nothing really came from the class except for the credit. Coming into Santaluces, I was expecting much from the first level of drawing with Mr. Terembes. I progressed into Draw/Paint 2 and painted for the first time. It was a surprise that I was able to copy Guy Harvey’s artwork. Multiple opportunities came up, which included the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The two pieces that received awards were originally created for assigned projects.”

Karen Garcia, Staff Writer
My name is Karen Garcia and I am a senior. I enjoy writing short stories and crying over amazing movies, especially A Walk to Remember. I am a big fan of reading, my favorite book is The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. In my spare time, I can be found walking my two Shih Tzus and watching reruns of The 100 on Netflix. My current goal is to major in journalism and to one day publish my own book.
