Following a shooting at a Palm Beach Central football game, the Palm Beach County School District announced changes that will take effect this week and for the rest of the 2018 season.
The changes that affect Santaluces games, including the home opener Friday against Forest Hill include:
- Games will begin at 6 p.m. for all high school football games.
- No spectators will be allowed entry following the kick-off of the third quarter. Spectators also will not be allowed re-entry if they choose to leave the game at any point during the duration of the game.
- No purses or backpacks will be allowed into the game; only bags that are clear. All bags are subject to search. Spectators are also subject to search and a metal detector security wand will be used at the entrance.
The shooting at Palm Beach Central involved two gunmen outside the stadium, left two injured, and forced the Kickoff Classic game between Palm Beach Central and Dwyer to end in the third quarter.
