The Lady Chiefs beat Spanish River High School 71-66, in a very intense game. Kendra Bentley led the team with 26 points, Britney Chery with 18 points, and Janessa Williams with 17 points. Bentley was off in the first half, but took control in the second half scoring 24 points in those two quarters alone.
The team has had a fresh start, with most of the previous players leaving the team and the previous coach, Coach Price, leaving as well. Besides two players, most of the the players are freshmen and sophomores.
Compare to previous teams throughout the years, the chemistry within these players is not there. That being said, the team has shown talent in the previous few games. The team struggles to find the groove amongst themselves, with most games coming extremely close in score.
“Coaching this group has been challenging all year, its a new, young group and we are just trying to find that chemistry, we’re half way through the season and we hope to find our groove now after this win. There is still a lot of skill work and improvement needed, we just got to take it game by game.” Coach Randy Soto has taken over the team, and is working closely with the players to improve as a whole.
