I personally love thrifting. Not just because it’s very affordable, but also because you can find really good stuff sometimes. If you get lucky enough, a retired baddie might’ve donated all of her clothes at your local thrift. Sadly, it hasn’t happened to me yet, where I get a whole new wardrobe.
But, some people are honestly very judgemental and think it’s weird to wear used clothes. Little do they know that you can actually find designer clothing there sometimes, and, when you wear it, they’re going to be begging to know where it’s from.
Most teens these days go thrifting. Some do it for the ‘trend’ and some do it because they actually enjoy it. Listening to music while trying to find new clothes just makes me feel complete.
Fast fashion, the rapid production of cheap trendy clothing, has significant environmental consequences such as waste, pollution, water usage, and more. Thrifting offers a more affordable alternative, and it’s become a popular way for teens to express themselves and their style.
My favorite thrift store is Goodwill because they usually have good finds, but the American Thrift store is huge and is filled with hidden gems. They key to finding all of the hidden gems and unique finds is to not be lazy. Thrifting can be time consuming (especially in the American Thrift) so make sure to look through every clothing item and not give up to get the best results.
Remember, in order to get what you want, you have to put in the work. Overall, thrifting to me is like recycling. “Reduce, reuse, recycle.” You’re just reusing clothing so you don’t have to spend triple the price on the same clothing item.
