Having healthy, yet delicious, snacks can be a struggle. When you get home from work or school all you want to do is open a bag of chips and call it a day, but there’s actually snacks that take less than ten minutes to make that are super delicious and affordable…
Bell Peppers & Cream Cheese — This snack sounds weird but is actually delicious, and all you need are three ingredients: bell peppers of any color, cream cheese, and salt. I prefer the red bell peppers because they give you that sweet, yet savory, taste. All you have to do is cut one whole bell pepper in half (cutting into fourths is optional), then you can either spread the cream cheese on the inside of the peppers or take two spoonfuls and put it in a sauce cup to dip. Then, sprinkle some salt onto the bell peppers.
Yogurt & Fruit — This is such a sweet yet healthy snack. You need plain yogurt, any fruit of your choice, granola, and honey. First, you put the yogurt in a bowl, and wash your fruit if needed. After that, arrange the fruit in the bowl to your liking. Add granola on and a drizzle of honey on top and there you go!
Cucumbers & Tuna — This could also be a meal depending on the portion. You need tuna, mayo, seasonings of your choice, and cucumbers. First, let your cucumbers sit in a bowl of water to wash for about 3 minutes, then rinse and cut your cucumbers into your preferred size. While waiting for the cucumbers to wash, start on your tuna mixture. What I do is empty the tuna into a bowl and add mayonnaise. After that I choose my seasonings which are typically garlic powder, salt, pepper, and a bit of paprika. Mix that all together and you have your delicious snack.
Homemade Protein Packs — For these, all you need is three ingredients, which will be cheese cubes, ham, and a tree nut of your choice. This procedure is pretty straight forward. Assemble your plate by using the cheese cubes, cutting your ham into bite sized pieces and choosing any tree nut.
Fruit Salad — For this, you need an array of fruits and some tajin. I like to use strawberries, mangos, and watermelon. I first cut five strawberries each into four slices. Then I cut my mangoes into cubes, and do the same with my watermelon. I put them in the freezer for about 5 minutes to give it that cool freshness. Once done in the freezer, I sprinkle tajin on everything and then mix. Refreshing with a bit of spice; it’s super good!
