Nhu Tran

One of the families I am especially thankful for this year is the Montes family. They were my host family and treated me like one of their own. Mrs. Montes was also my math teacher at school. She picked me up from the airport when I arrived and drove me back to the airport when I left her. Mrs. Montes ensured I always felt supported in their home and provided me with opportunities to explore the United States. She drove me to California to visit Disneyland and other places. She truly was the best host mom and an incredible teacher. I will never forget their kindness; the impact they had on me is unforgettable. I had thought I might never meet anyone like them again. Thankfully, we still keep in touch and have calls every once in a while.

I’m very thankful for my older sister. She has been with me through thick and thin and no one can replace her. This year has probably been the worst year of my life, but I thankfully got through it because of her. I know I can always count on her whenever something is wrong in my life and she’s basically like a second mom to me.<3

The person I’m most thankful for is my mom. I give the same answer every year for these kind of questions but my mom is extremely important to me, not only is she a charming, confident, and ambitious, she also SUPER hard working. It’s insane every time I hear stories of how hard my mom worked and the sacrifices she made to get us me and my brother to America. It makes me feel so grateful. She is always trying to instill important values. I’ve learned from her that I should never stop striving to reach my dreams and I should always trust and believe in myself even when nobody else does.

This year I am most thankful for my mom especially. This year has been a little rough for us financially but she always makes it work and comes through for our family. I am also thankful for my real, true friends. They make my day so much better and it’s refreshing to know I have real friends that won’t switch on me for anything which is so rare nowadays.

For this year, I want to be thankful for my dogs, Coco and Blue. Although they haven’t done much or do anything since they’re just dogs, they brought me joy through hard times. They’re a bit smelly but I do love my dogs a lot, ever since they came to my life. Forever and will cherish them.
