Inside Varsity Football: Week 4

Matthew Leto, Sports Editor

The Chiefs played the Olympic Heights Lions this past week with a thrilling 26-25 loss. The Varsity football team will play on the road this Friday night against John I. Leonard. Last season, the Chiefs were blown out by John I. 34-6.

John I. Leonard is 0-3 this season, after losses against Palm Beach Gardens, South Fork, and Wellington. The Chiefs have a great chance to get their first victory and gain some momentum for the season. Sophomore quarterback Arthur Gray Jr. will likely start under center, and may have a fantastic night connecting to Seniors Bradley Toussaint and Kendyl Williams.

Defensively, the Chiefs should come dialed in, physical and prepared to shut down John I Leonard’s offense. Seniors Raymone Bailey and Alex Padilla should contribute heavily on Friday night. The Chiefs are hungry and are ready to get their first victory on the season.

Senior Alex Padilla weighed in on Friday nights game.

“We are in the best shape we’ve been in all fall,” said Padilla.”I can’t wait to get on the field and show it.”
