Recently, I had the chance to interview one of my favorite peers at Santaluces, Keyahra Dorrine. Not only does she make great jokes, but she also has a great perspective on life and how to deal with the problems it comes with. I asked her some questions to get to know her better.
What grade are you in?
“I am in 10th grade.”
Are you in any club or sport?
“I play flag football. I’m also currently in Bound for College as well as the Boys and Girls Club.”
What are the challenges of being involved in multiple clubs and sports?
“To be honest, the hardest part about being in clubs and sports is time management. It actually takes up all of your time, and sometimes you have literally no time to do anything else such as homework or other things like that. Sometimes, you can even miss out on spending time with friends because of the many obligations you will have.”
What are your favorite clubs or activities you have participated in?
“My favorite things I am in so far are flag football and SGA. I am really interested in flag football. First of all, It keeps me active and in shape. Moreover, the people in this club are really kind and accommodating. One of my favorite parts of playing this sport is everyone’s energy and spirit. In addition, the SGA forces me to try new things and meet new people as well as do a bunch of stuff around school. I like the environment in this class, especially since people really care about their work, they are very hardworking which encourages me to contribute.”
Do you have any advice for the freshmen next year?
“Focus on your grades. But, remember that grades aren’t the sole thing that matters. Having a social life such as being active in school, making friends and creating a plethora of memories with them is also crucial. These things may help you when you apply for college or university. So go out, have fun and do a bunch of stuff even if it’s embarrassing because who cares at the end of the day!”
