As October starts every year, people around the globe start preparing themselves for a fun Halloween. From finding costumes to planning parties, there’s something to enjoy for everyone, including the world’s gamers. This time of year, many developers decide to update their games to give the fans a treat, sometimes a trick!

Let’s start off small with the indie game Dead Cells. While they’re releasing the game on Netflix Games on Oct. 31st, that is not the only thing players can look forward to. At the end of August, the Steam Page updated to announce that the 35th update was in a playable Alpha stage, updating the game’s “Curse” mechanics. If it follows the same pattern as previous updates, it should be completed later this month for PC. Console and Nintendo Switch ports will be able to play later, most likely in November.

Next, let’s take a look at Dead By Daylight and their string of new updates for the month! On Oct. 3rd, they started off with brand-new merchandise, including shirts, keychains, a mat, and a limited edition poster for dedicated fans. Later on in the month, they plan to release new challenges, known as Tomes, for the player to complete, along with new outfits for characters like the Oni and the Xenomorph. Also, on Friday the 13th, they’ve “arranged for an epic surprise that will explore the world of Dead by Daylight like never before.”

To top it off, we can head on over to arguably the most popular Battle Royale in the genre, Fortnite, and their annual Fortnitemares update. On Oct. 10th, Epic Games brought back Fortnitemares, including quests, cosmetics, and more. Like every year, they bring Halloween-exclusive weapons like the Pumpkin Launcher back to give enemies a scare, along with candy to heal. As well, a new Vampire boss enters the game, bringing new weapons and a fun fight. Even Halloween classics like Michael Myers and Jack Skellington will join the island for the holiday!

If you’ve got some free time and a device, check these out! These are only a few of the games participating, so if you like an online game, check their pages and social media to see if they’ll offer a spooky time for you!

Hello there, friendly neighborhood pixel artist Cole Montag reporting to you! This year is a lot of firsts for me, especially for the school and the Tribe but I'm glad to be here nonetheless. Most of the time, you'll see me making art, gaming, and helping run the Chiefs ESports team (probably dealing with homework too, but I don't care for that). I'll usually write on pop culture and media so stay tuned for movie or game reviews. I've got nothing left to say, so if you want to see more from me, check out my articles or my pixel art on Instagram!
