Inside Varsity Football: Week 9

Matthew Leto, Sports Editor

The Chiefs played the Spanish River Sharks this past week with a 20-0 loss. The Varsity football team will play on the road this Friday night against cross-town rivals Park Vista Cobras. This game is special for the Chiefs, as the Cobras are considered the eternal rival. Last season, the Chiefs were defeated 23-20.

Park Vista is undefeated to begin the season and will look to continue their perfect journey. The Chiefs could play spoilers and provide the Cobras their first loss of the season, Sophomore quarterback Arthur Gray Jr. or Senior Marquise Jackson will likely start under center, and may have a fantastic night passing to offensive weapons Bradley Toussaint and Kendyl Williams.

Defensively, the Chiefs will attempt to slow down the Cobra’s high powered offense. Additionally, Seniors Raymond Bailey, and Miguel Ebersold, should contribute heavily on defense Friday night.

Senior Bradley Toussaint weighed in on the rivalry game.

“Numbers say we don’t have a chance, but if we play as a team and get dialed in,” Toussaint said. “I see no way of us losing.”
