“I joined wrestling at the beginning of my junior year when I came to this school, leaving Park Vista. I wrestled the entire year and started my senior year, where I became captain along with Gabriel Burzycki and Kareem Thomas. The end of the season came, and one of the only things our coach wanted was for us to win conference and districts. We won conference and then we had to do districts. In my first match of the tournament, I had to wrestle Park Vista, my old school, which I never beat. I ended up pinning him in the first period. Then after that, I had another kid that beat the [expletive] out of me. I wrestled the entire match with him – all three periods. I ended up beating him by three points. That led me to become district champ.”

Hey there, I'm Gillian and I'm a senior here at Santaluces. This is my first year writing for the newspaper. Writing has always been a passion of mine and I'm planning to pursue Journalism as my college major. I'm a part of the tech support team as well, considering I do quite well with computers. I play a forward position on the soccer team too! I'm a very optimistic person, and that is what most people use to describe me. Enjoy my stories!
